Memories from the 2001 Mallory & Irvine Research Expedition, and discovering an old sock in the remains of the 1924 Camp VI.

The 1924 Camp II was the last of the pre-World War II camps on Mount Everest I had yet to find and visit. After some legwork, Sid Pattison and I were able to locate it.

On May 1, 1999, my teammates and I discovered the remains of George Mallory high on Everest. Here, I reflect on that day twenty years later, once again on Mount Everest.
